They’re baaaaaaack! Or maybe, they never left? Fannypacks, long the victim of unfair fashion attacks are clearly having their 're-moment' and we couldn’t be more pleased!
Montreal-based company, Holdur (@holdur_official) is adding true chicness to these super-convenient bags. Their designs are sleek, simple and they use the highest quality leathers, canvases and hardware. We were THRILLED to get our hands on them! Of course, being us we couldn’t help but play a little and try to buck tradition by wearing the bags in somewhat progressive fashion-forward ways.
I had a fanny pack in the mid 90s. It’s where I kept my Pog collection.Once my Pog phase passed, so did my fanny pack. Since then, I became a mom, and suddenly my hands (and even shoulders) are always full, so I bought my second ever fanny pack. It was a discreet little black thing I could sort of hide under my coat. I didn’t embrace the trend until I saw these Holdur bags. They’ve been around since 2014 so they predate the recent resurgence; they were also born out of necessity. But Nicole and Mathilde, the clever ladies behind Holdur, had the foresight to make them beautiful for all to see! -S
My favourite is the classic Holdur Petit, it’s still big enough to hold all your essentials, but small enough that it doesn’t dominate your outfit if, like me, you’re easing back into the trend. You can wear them 8 million different ways, which I love. They come with a wrist strap and a messenger strap, and crossbody straps are available as well. -S
As you’ve noticed, I typically wear a very neutral palette which is why I love to use accessories to add color to my outfits. Bright red is one of my go-to’s. Here I wore the crossbody strap as a belt to accentuate my waist. The canvas fabric of the bag is a bit more casual so I added sneakers to an otherwise very “madame” outfit to play that up. -S
Khaki is one of my favourite colours so when I saw the new Canva collection shades I grabbed up this perfect all-season fannypack. Rather than the regular waist strap, I used their Skinny Strap and double laced it through my (totally 80’s inspired) acid washed jeans. I even considered actually wearing it ‘round back, the way original fannypacks were worn!...but then I didn’t. : ) -V
Is there no end to where one can wear these bags? Even with a coat dress, I managed to work in some Holdur magic. Cross body purses are SO now that the gals at Holdur even thought ahead to make their straps work in this position. With just a couple adjustments to my Messenger Strap, my Holdur Classic leather bag went from classic fannypack to a sharp crossbody bag in a snap. There's just something both nostalgic and at once NEW about this piece. Thanks for an amazing collab, Nicole & Mathilde! We’re officially fannypack LOVERS!!!!
